The Telos Trio commissioned Cary Ratcliff to write Fresh Wind for Our Sails in 2019. The result is a colorful, evocative, engaging composition that delighted the audience at its premiere. The work is inspired by a century of commitments in the faith community of Rochester, New York, to build a community of justice and peace. With movements titled “Fanfare for the Common Good,” “Let Justice Roll Down Like Waters,” “Eulogy for Lost Ground,” ”Fresh Wind for Our Sails,” and “Until Justice and Peace Embrace,” Ratcliff brilliantly depicts the blowing of fresh wind that inspires and energizes that work, the wails of anguish when ground is lost, and the ringing of bells which call together all who will strive for the common good.

"Fresh Wind in Our Sails" With special guest - the ever-popular Sandra Boysen Sluberski!

The music by Ratcliff, Coleman, and Walker will mark the movement of social and spiritual winds that bring us to new places. Come celebrate the centennial of women’s suffrage, the Harlem Renaissance, and contemporary movements to build community.

The Telos Trio collaborates with the Greater Rochester Community of Churches in their 100 years of intentional ecumenical Christian cooperation in Rochester. The concert will feature a commissioned work for the Telos Trio by Cary Ratcliff.
